History

Built in 1837 by celebrated Scottish architect William Leiper, Braeholm is an outstanding testament to the design of the period. Leiper was responsible for striking designs, his most famous being the Templeton’s Carpet Factory on Glasgow Green. His works are part of the Arts and Crafts Movement and the Gothic Revival style. Notables born in Braeholm include artist Stephen Conroy, who along with Peter Howson are part of the “New Glasgow Boys” who came to prominence in the 1980’s. The entrance hall will feature art of the New Glasgow boys and Helensburgh artists in the style of a mini gallery.
