Nearby Dunkeld is one of the best preserved and historic villages in Scotland and is located in the heart of Perthshire’s Big Tree Country. It is a popular location with many amenities, including a selection of coffee shops, restaurants, gift and retail shops. Dunkeld has a lively arts, music scene and galleries, including The Taybank, Scotland’s historic music pub. There is a convenience supermarket, post office, doctors' surgery and primary school. The majestic Cathedral located by a stunning riverside location, with origins from the 12th century is still the parish church and is host to concerts. There are excellent transport connections close by including the A9 leading to Inverness and Perth and a train station at Dunkeld with destinations to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and a direct train to London Kings Cross and Euston.
There is plenty to keep wildlife enthusiasts busy with the local woodlands being home to the red squirrel. Otters, dippers and wagtails can be observed along the riverside and salmon can be seen leaping at The Hermitage. The Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club is one of the most picturesque in Perthshire and other golf courses nearby include the championship Rosemount course at Blairgowrie.
Perth lying approximately 18 miles to the south offers more extensive facilities including national retailers, cinema, theatre, concert hall and both rail and bus stations.
